CPS Involved Family Support Group
Support for Parents, Caregivers, and Young People Navigating the Child Protective System
Hi All,
I’m reaching out to our network because I know you care deeply about parents in recovery who are navigating the CPS system. I want to share information about a recovery support group happening at the ME-RAP Access Center (and virtually).
Families in Recovery is a peer-led support group for parents and caregivers navigating recovery while involved with Child Protective Services (CPS). Facilitated by Kat and Tim, parents who have lived experience with both recovery and the CPS system, this group offers a safe, understanding, and empowering space to connect and heal.
This group holds a special place in my heart.
As some of you know, I am a person in recovery with lived experience in the child protective system (you can read my families' story here!). I know firsthand how having a network of peers made it possible for me to regain custody of my children—and I want that same support for every parent and child navigating the child protective system.
So I promised Tim and Kat that I’d help get the word out. If you could share this flyer through your networks, we’d be so grateful—it could make all the difference in reaching parents who need this kind of support. Thank you so much for your help!
In Relentless Solidarity (especially with Maine's children and parents),
Courtney Gary-Allen
